Welcome

A luxury camp with AC/heating, built by one family in Merzouga

Merzouga Glamping sits at Rass Rmel, on the quiet western edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. We built it ourselves, tent by tent, because we wanted guests to experience the Sahara the way we know it — as a luxury desert camp with AC/heating in Merzouga, without the discomfort that usually comes with sleeping in the dunes.

That means a real bed and a private bathroom with hot water. It means air conditioning in summer and heating in winter. And it means dinner cooked by our family, music around the fire, and someone who knows these dunes walking beside you when you ride out at sunset.

Why stay with us

Why guests choose a camp with AC/heating in Merzouga

Air conditioning & heating in every tent

Cool in July, warm in January. Each tent has its own AC/heating unit you control yourself — and the restaurant is air-conditioned too.

Private ensuite bathrooms

Every tent has its own bathroom with a hot shower. No walking across the sand at night.

Home-cooked Moroccan meals

Dinner and breakfast made by our family — tagines, couscous, bread baked in the sand.

Family-run, not a chain

You are hosted by the family who built this camp and grew up in these dunes.

Camel ride & sandboarding included

A sunset camel ride into Erg Chebbi and free boards whenever you want them.

Wi-Fi and power in every tent

Free Wi-Fi across the camp and universal outlets for your chargers.

What one night with us looks like

Everything below is included in your stay. Nothing is an upsell at the fire.
  1. Arrival & mint tea

We take your bags, pour the tea and show you to your tent. Time for a first walk on the dune behind camp.

  2. Sunset camel ride

The caravan heads out into Erg Chebbi and stops on a high dune for the light. Included with every stay.

  3. Dinner at the restaurant

Soup, salads, a tagine or couscous, bread and fruit — served in our air-conditioned restaurant.

  4. Fire & Berber drums

Our team plays traditional music around the fire for as long as guests want to stay up.

  5. Stargazing

Lanterns go down, blankets come out. On a moonless night the Milky Way is overhead.

  6. Sunrise on the dunes

A ten-minute walk to the ridge for the best hour of the day, then breakfast waiting at camp.

Experiences

The desert, at your pace

Camel rides, sandboarding and stargazing come with your stay. Quads, buggies, 4x4 tours, massage, summer sand baths and private celebrations can be arranged whenever you like.

Guest words

What people say after a night in the dunes

An unforgettable experience. The tents are beautiful and much more comfortable than we expected, and the hosts made us feel like part of the family from the moment we arrived.

Maria Dominguez

Stayed with family

The sunset camel ride and the night around the fire with the music were the best part of our whole trip to Morocco. Everything was well organised and the food was excellent.

Omar Diefe

Stayed with friends

Waking up in the middle of the dunes with a private bathroom and hot shower feels like a small miracle. Quiet, clean and genuinely welcoming people.

Our family

You are staying with us, not with a hotel group

Our family has lived beside these dunes for generations. Some of us grew up herding camels on the same sand where the camp now stands; others learned to cook the tagines you will be served from a grandmother who never wrote a recipe down.

We answer the enquiries, we serve the dinner, and we are the ones who walk you up the dune for sunrise. That is the whole difference, and it is the reason guests write to us afterwards.

Questions guests ask before booking

Most guests drive or take a private transfer from Fes (about 7 hours), Marrakech (about 9 hours) or Ouarzazate (about 5 hours). The nearest airport is Errachidia (ERH), roughly 2 hours away, and Fes (FEZ) and Marrakech (RAK) are the main international gateways. No. You can drive right up to the camp, or we can collect you from the parking area. The camel ride is an experience we include for the sunset, not a way of getting your luggage in.

Your tent with private ensuite bathroom, dinner, breakfast, the sunset camel ride, sandboarding, live Berber music around the fire and Wi-Fi. Quad biking, buggy tours, 4x4 excursions and massage are optional extras.

Yes. Every tent has its own unit, and it matters: summer afternoons here are genuinely hot and winter nights genuinely cold. Each tent also has a private bathroom with a hot shower and universal power outlets.

There is free Wi-Fi across the camp and reasonable mobile coverage. It is fast enough for messaging, maps and sending photos home; it is not fast enough to pretend you are still at the office, which most guests count as a benefit.

Traditional Moroccan home cooking prepared by our family: harira or vegetable soup, tagines, couscous, fresh bread baked in sand, salads and seasonal fruit, with mint tea throughout. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and allergy-aware meals are no problem — just tell us in advance.

Very. Families are a large part of who stays with us. Children get their own bed in the family or triple tent, sandboard for as long as they want, meet the camels before the ride and eat with everyone at dinner. Let us know their ages when you enquire.
